DLA Piper Chile incorporates Jorge Timmermann as new corporate partner

The lawyer has been a senior associate of the firm since 2014.

In order to strengthen the firm’s corporate practice, DLA Piper Chile has invited Jorge Timmermann to join as a new partner as of January 2021. “I am proud to become part, now as a partner, of this tremendous project in which our commitment to the client is paramount. I am very motivated by the challenge of continuing to strengthen areas such as capital markets, and innovation and entrepreneurship, in which we are already very well positioned as an office,” says Jorge.

Jorge has been working at DLA Piper Chile since 2014. He studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and subsequently studied an LL.M. at Columbia University (NY) and was a foreign associate at the New York office of DLA Piper LLP (US) between 2017 and 2018, where he worked in the capital markets area. Prior to that he worked as a capital markets advisor to the Ministry of Finance and was an associate in a local firm between 2008 and 2011.

He has concentrated his practice in Corporate Law, advising Chilean and foreign clients in mergers and acquisitions transactions, capital markets, investments Funds and Banking and Financial Regulation, Venture Capital (particularly Fintechs), among others.

In relation to mergers and acquisitions, his practice includes the structuring of M&A operations, the drafting and negotiation of stock purchase agreements, shareholders’ agreements, among others, and advice on preventive control procedures for concentration operations before the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office (FNE). He has participated in the issuance of bonds and commercial papers in the local market and in international markets, both registered and unregistered, mainly representing the issuers. Timmermann is also active in the Venture Capital market, advising multiple venture capital firms and entrepreneurs in setting up and management of investment funds, startup vehicles and applying for State-driven funding opportunities.
