Marco Salgado and Pilar Ay participate in a new version of LawWithOutWalls

20 May, 2019

Every year the University of Miami organizes a competition of innovation and entrepreneurship. On April 14th and 15th, was the final phase or ConPosium of the LawWithOutWalls, an initiative that brings together more than 100 students from more than 30 worldwide leading universities. On this occasion, two students from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Macarena Infante (graduate) and Juan Franco (fifth year), participated. They had to solve a problem together with their team made up of Law and Economics students to then present their project under the Business Pitch modality. The students were accompanied by the UC professor of Law and partner of our office, Marco Salgado, who participated as Faculty Leader, together with the former student of the PUC and associate of DLA Piper Chile Pilar Ay, as Alumni Ambassador. In addition, DLA Piper Chile sponsored the participants. Macarena Infante worked on the challenge focused on improving, in the least technological way possible, the contractual process that takes place daily in the internal prosecutor’s offices or legal departments of the companies. Juan Franco, meanwhile, worked on the problematic Rebelión de las máquinas: How can the increasing use of drones be regulated efficiently and how can technology be used to enforce regulation? In this framework, the UC law student team developed a mobile application that provides the user of a drone all the regulations in real time, with instant warnings in case of contravention, which describe briefly and concisely (user-friendly) what is being done wrong. The PUC Law School participates in this global initiative since 2012, being the only national Faculty that participates in the LawWithoutWalls challenge.  Source: Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
